The unique and outstanding talent in windsurfing is too substantial to enumerate, much less to portray each individually. So here you will find those who have caught my eye in a special way. These legends are the ones who have taken my breath and my heart with their spirit and skill.
Hawaiian raised Robby Naish
is the most recognized name in windsurfing. His career grew with the sport itself from its origin and he became one of its first athletes to gain enduring international fame. Though now retired, he is a master of windsurfing and kitesurfing. His winning personality and natural love of people have made him the universal symbol of the sport.
Matt Schweitzer,
the son of the man who brought windsurfing to the world, has consistently windsurfed longer than anyone alive.
Arnaud de Rosnay
was a fearless and free spirited windsurfer. His large and daring life gave him a place in legend and helped to put windsurfing on the world map.
Professional waterman Mike Waltze
is an island pioneer of the short board and wave sailing. He brought Maui to the windsurfing world.
Ken Winner
was a morning star in windsurfing performance and has significantly contributed to modern windsurf design.
Bjorn Dunkerbeck
is the most successful athlete ever and an exceptional professional windsurfer.
Becoming one of the first world champions and the first Olympic windsurfing champion,
Stephen van den Berg
set his name in history and legend.
